Rebirth Odyssey & Lodestar

Finishing the Rebirth Odyssey rewards a Lodestar
Finishing the Rebirth Odyssey rewards a Lodestar
  • Added repeatable Rebirth Odyssey (Rebirth 21).
  • Finishing the Rebirth Odyssey (level 140) returns you to Rebirth 20 with a Lodestar. A new Rebirth Odysseys statistic counts these runs and takes part in Experience Leaderboard.
  • Lodestar: stones stored in it raise your next upgrade's chance, up to 100% at the full price. It works on gear upgraded with Stones of Xelima or Merien, up to +7. It is tradeable.
  • Lodestar is consumed with all its stones whether the upgrade succeeds or fails. Stones can't be taken back out. The first charge locks it to Xelima or Merien. A failure can still drop the item a level.

Mob Statistics

  • Changed mob specialties to work per tier: kills of all mobs in a tier build one specialty for that tier.1
  • Extended specialty bonuses to higher tiers (8 -> 9). Tier 9 gives bonuses such as Damage % and Hit Ratio %. Tier 10 and higher mobs still give none.2
  • Reset everyone's kills of Tier 9 and 10 mobs3 to 0, since they were much weaker or only in Apocalypse before.
  • Reduced specialty Damage Reduction % at high levels (about 51% -> 40% at level 200).4
  • Reduced the specialty Hit Ratio % bonus (+90.9% -> +37.7% at level 200) and removed flat Hit Ratio bonuses. Tiers 3-5 and 7-9 give Hit Ratio % instead. Tiers 1, 2 and 6 give no Hit Ratio bonus.5
  • Added mob titles for every other mob with a tier, such as Master Mage Orcs, Dragons and Wyverns. Title level = √(kills of that mob ÷ 160), up to 200. Titles stay per mob, and the existing ones keep their kill requirements.
  • Added the Well-Rounded achievement for reaching level 10 in all 9 tier specialties.
  1. Specialty level = √(your kills of that tier's mobs ÷ N), up to 200, with N = 175, 165, 75, 85, 80, 150, 125, 50 and 50 for Tiers 1-9 (was per mob, 20-150). Bonuses still cycle level by level. E.g. 50,000 Gargoyle kills: Gargoyle Lv.50 -> Tier 8 Lv.31, which applies to Unicorns, Demons, Gargoyles and Master Mage Orcs.
  2. Tier 9: Claw Turtles, Centaurs, Dragons and Giant Lizards.
  3. Claw Turtles, Centaurs, Dragons, Giant Lizards, Minotaurs and Nizies.
  4. Damage Reduction % = n × 6 ÷ (100 + n × 12) × 100, where n is the number of Damage Reduction % bonuses earned (one every 6 levels, Tiers 6-8).
  5. Hit Ratio % = (1 − 100 ÷ (100 + n))^0.7 × 100, where n is the number of Hit Ratio bonuses earned (was (1 − 0.93^n) × 100).

Enchanting

One balance per stat in the Enchanting window
One balance per stat in the Enchanting window
  • Lv.1-17 shards and fragments have been converted into one balance per stat and no longer need to be combined. Your Enchanting Bag converts automatically. Shards and fragments in bags, warehouses or mail stay as they are until deposited.
  • Merged the Enchanting Bag into the Enchanting window. A Materials list beside every tab shows each balance and highlights what the item needs.
  • Renamed Lv.18+ shards and fragments to Sigils (e.g. Lv.20 Light shard -> Light Shard Sigil (T3)). Tiers count from Lv.18. Each sigil still comes only from disenchanting, not upgrading.
  • Added an icon per stat for shards and fragments.
  • Marked low-level items in the Enchanting window. They get an enchanting bonus and a disenchanting penalty.

OpenGL renderer

  • Added an OpenGL renderer and made it the default. It needs OpenGL 3.0 or newer. DirectDraw stays available for now as the launcher's Renderer option.6
  • Increased the frame rate greatly with OpenGL, especially in crowded scenes.
  • Added a Scaling option for enlarging the picture to bigger windows and screens. Choose Nearest, Bilinear, Sharp Bilinear or Integer in Options > Display.
  • Replaced the launcher's Fixed Aspect Ratio with an in-game Fit option when using OpenGL. Set it in Options > Display.
  • Added window size presets and made the game window remember its size.
  • Filled the bars beside the picture with a darkened view of the surrounding map by default. Choose Black, Map, Blurred map or Theme color in Options > Display > Bar fill.
  • Windows, the minimap and the cursor can move into the bars.
  • Moved the Quest HUD, event HUDs, Timer and FPS/Perf into the bars when they fit.
  • Added shadows for players' swords, shields and capes. Toggle them in Options > Graphics > Equipment shadows.
  • Made day and night fade over 1.5 seconds instead of switching with a dark flash.
  1. Scaling, Fit, Bar fill, Bars brightness, Game area, Extend UI into bars, the HUD placements and Equipment shadows work only with OpenGL.

New login and character screens

  • Redesigned the loading, login and character screens.
  • Increased characters per account (4 -> 6), including existing accounts.
  • Added a preview of the selected character in its gear to character selection.
  • Your last selected character now gets remembered.

Customizable keybindings

Rebind any shortcut in Keybindings
Rebind any shortcut in Keybindings
  • Added customizable keybindings, with a Primary and a Secondary key per shortcut. They are saved on your PC, not per account or character.
  • Added default keys for the Friends (Ctrl+Alt+F) and Party (Ctrl+Alt+P) windows. Statistics and the character Planner can also be given a key.
  • Replaced the Number hotkeys option with unbinding keys 1-5 in Keybindings. You must rebind 1-5 keys manually if you had "Number hotkeys" on before.
  • Made Ctrl and Alt shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+R, Ctrl+T) work while the chat box is open.

Combat & Classes

Max HP and HP regen

  • Increased Max HP per level (2.5 -> 3.5) and decreased it per Strength (2/3 -> 1/3). Max HP = 2 x Vit + 3.5 x Level + Str / 3.
  • Increased healing from Health Potions7 and food8 by about 17%. Food also fills you about 17% more.
  • Increased healing spells by 15-21% (e.g. Heal 15 -> 18).9
  • Changed HP regen to also grow with level, while Vitality gives slightly less.10
  • Changed hunger to shrink regens instead of delaying them (down to 33% at 100% hunger). This applies above 70% hunger, for HP, MP and SP. The Character window shows the current penalty.11
  • Improved the accuracy of regen timing. Regens no longer arrive up to a second late.
  1. Health Potion 23 -> 27, Big Health Potion 53 -> 62, Super Health Potion 140 -> 164.
  2. E.g. Meat 28 -> 33, Baguette 19 -> 22, Troll Meat 70 -> 82, Grapes 52 -> 61, and the other monster meats and farm produce.
  3. Great Heal 33 -> 40, Mass Heal 26 -> 30, Meditation 33 -> 40. Values before Holy talent's double healing.
  4. HP per regen: (Vit + 1) / 2.25 x (1 + r) + Level / 14, where r is a random 0-1 bonus weighted toward low values; was (Vit + 1) / 2 + (Vit + 1) / 2 x r.
  5. Regens restore 1500 / (45 - satiety)% of normal, where satiety = 100 - hunger%. Regens used to be delayed (30 - satiety) seconds: HP is about the same, while at 100% hunger MP is lower (40% -> 33%) and SP higher (29% -> 33%).

Hit Ratio and critical attacks

  • Increased Hit Ratio per Dex above 50 (1.2 -> 1.3).
  • Decreased melee weapon skills' critical-attack Hit Ratio bonus by 10.

Cast speed

  • Added faster casting from Mag for every character (casts take 9% less time and recovery 20% less at 200 Mag). Each Mag gives 0.05% faster casting and 0.1% shorter cast recovery. It's shown in the Character window's MAG tooltip.
  • Reduced the Lightning talent's casting bonuses (faster cast 20% -> 15%, shorter recovery 40% -> 25%). Both apply to lightning spells. Other elements' shorter cast recovery is reduced (25% -> 20%).
  • Removed the Xelima talent's own Mag casting bonus, leaving its casting speed unchanged.
  • Halved the Merien talent's own Mag casting bonus. With the new Mag bonus, Merien casting speed stays about the same.12
  1. 0.1% -> 0.05% faster cast and 0.2% -> 0.1% shorter recovery per Mag. At 200 Mag: cast time 16.7% -> 17.4% shorter, cast recovery 40% -> 36% shorter.

Magic

  • Changed Inhibition Casting to halve the target's cast chance instead of blocking spells, and lowered its mana cost (160 -> 130). Magic potions and scrolls stay blocked.
  • Moved the Illusion visual effect to players under Inhibition Casting.
  • Gave Protection From Magic and Great Defense Shield their own look.
  • Fixed Confusion and Mass Confusion barely affecting players. Affected players now see other players' names as ????? without guilds, and NPC names as Unknown. They also see no party members on the minimap.
  • Changed Illusion and Mass Illusion to make affected players see everyone else as the caster. This includes gear effects and corpses. Nameplates show only ????? and an HP bar. Real stance, haste and berserk still show.
  • Fixed Blizzard's freeze not working like other ice spells. It now slows monsters. On players, it can be cancelled and removed with Ginseng.
  • Made arrows and spell effects play at the same speed at any frame rate, and move much more smoothly.13
  • Reduced the penalties for casting spells above your circle. For example, the circle 10 penalty is reduced (40 -> 30 per circle above). This affects cast chance and magic Hit Ratio for circles 1-3 and 7-10.14
  • Added each circle's magic Hit Ratio bonus or penalty to the Magic window.
  1. Smoother effects include arrows, Magic Missile, Blizzard, Hellfire, Meteor Strike, Chill Wind and Storm Bringer's attack effect.
  2. Penalty per circle above (level + Rebirth level) / 10, for circles 1-10: 5, 5, 8, 8, 10, 14, 28, 32, 36, 40 -> 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30, partly refunded by your progress toward the next circle.

Defense

  • Fixed attacks from behind lowering Defense Ratio by only 10% instead of 50% for players holding a bow and against monster arrows, including archer guards and Arrow Guard Towers.
  • Fixed Defense Shield and Great Defense Shield not applying to players holding a bow or against monster arrows.

Luck

  • Changed Luck's crush chance to rise quickly at first and slowly later (200 Luck now counts as 233). Crush chance at 200 Luck is raised (66% -> 77%).15
  • Added Crush Resistance from Luck (enemies' crush chance against you 38% lower at 200 Luck). Each Luck above 10 lowers it by 0.2% of its value.
  • Added Stun Evasion, a chance not to be stunned when hit (33% at 200 Luck). It doesn't work against player spells or knockback. It stacks with Tank.
  • Made crush chance above 100% increase crush damage. The crush damage bonus is multiplied by the crush chance. For example, 120% gives 1.2x.
  1. Effective Luck = 10 + 9.56 x (Luck - 10)^0.6, unchanged up to 10; 50 Luck counts as 97 and 100 as 152. Crush chance stays 0.33% per effective Luck.

Talents

  • Added a 24-hour undo to the Unlearn Talent Ticket. Undo it from the Talents tab.

Axe

  • Increased Axe combo damage (+1/+3/+5 -> +2/+4/+6).

Archery

  • Increased Archery's critical damage multiplier (x1.00 -> x1.10).
  • Increased Archery combo damage (+1/+2/+3 -> +2/+4/+6).

Poison

  • Increased poison damage dealt by players by 0.4% per Strength, with or without the talent. This includes the talent's bonus damage and poison from Poison Cloud and Cloud Kill.
  • Changed the talent's chance to re-poison on hit to depend on weapon speed (25% -> 23-35%).16
  • Changed the talent's bonus poison damage against players (0.15% -> 0.1% of the target's current HP per Poison Damage). This is before the new Strength bonus. For example, it's 0.18% with 200 Strength.
  • Reduced the talent's base bonus poison damage against monsters. Before the new Strength bonus, it scales less with the monster's current HP and has a lower cap.
  • Fixed the talent's +10% Poison Resistance not applying.
  • Changed poison on monsters to tick every 8 seconds, like on players. Its second tick used to come after only 4 seconds.
  • Stopped poison, burn and damage-over-time spells from slowing monsters' HP regen. Only direct hits slow it now, on Tier 8 and higher monsters.
  • Removed monsters' poison resistance, so poison takes hold more often and wears off less often. Poisoned weapons always poison them. Poison spells and clouds only need to get past their Magic Resistance.
  1. 23% with Short Swords and bare hands, 29% with Fencing, 35% with other weapons.

Holy

  • Changed Faith from healing players to 1 per 6 HP actually restored. You get half when healing yourself and for Radiance heals. You get a quarter when Radiance heals you.17
  • Added rare spell Radiance, a self aura that heals up to 3 nearby allies with the lowest HP % 4 times18 (Radiance Manual drops from Unicorns and Liches). It's circle 1, costs 110 mana and needs 60 Int. It covers 7x7 tiles around you. You can be a target.
  • Increased Divine Touch base damage per level (0.30 -> 0.35).
  • Added a new sound to Divine Touch.
  1. Faith from healing was a share of the target's Max HP, capped at 22 per heal.
  2. Heals 3 seconds apart: 25 HP for 1 target, 21 each for 2, 17 each for 3, doubled by the Holy talent. Allies at full HP still take a slot unless their Holy overheal shield is also full.

Tank

  • Fixed the Tank talent's shield bonus (+7% Physical and Magic Absorption) only working when facing the attacker. It now works from every direction except behind. For spells, behind is judged by where the caster stands, not where they're facing.
  • Fixed the Tank talent's 25% chance to evade stuns also working against player spells, which its description excludes.

Merien

  • Changed the Merien talent's stat bonus (+15 Str and Mag -> +6 to all stats).

Combat text and messages

  • Changed damage numbers of 200 or more to show the actual amount instead of "Crit" / "Critical!"
  • Made overhead chat keep its own line instead of being replaced by damage numbers. Spell popups no longer replace it either. Damage numbers now disappear after a steady 1.25 seconds.
  • Shortened the HP/MP/SP change and Enemy Kill messages (e.g. "MP increased by 12", "You killed X!"). The guild version no longer shows the victim's guild rank.
  • Changed stat abbreviations to STR, VIT, DEX, INT, MAG and LUK everywhere.
  • Made large numbers and dates follow your Windows region settings (e.g. 1.234.567 with German settings).19
  1. Thousands separator and date format, for EXP, gold and stack counts, prices, guild costs, statistics, item names and floor labels, News dates, guild member dates and the ban end time (now shown with 24-hour time).

Items

New items

  • Added four elemental rings: +7 magic damage and +1 damage to spells of their element20 (rare drops from Tier 9 monsters).
  • Added Voidpiercer, a wand whose spells ignore 15-45% of Magic Absorption, more as the target loses HP21 (rare drop: MS10 from Minotaurs, MS20 from Tiger Worms and Fire Wyverns).
  • Added Berserker's Helm, with Superior and Exceptional versions, which grants Berserk while worn.22
  • Added Bow of Blight, a rare bow (8 damage, level 80) which on hit has separate 15% chances (20% on criticals) to re-trigger a target's poison and burn and to extend its Frozen debuff by 1 s, only on targets already affected and without using up the effect's duration (rare drop from Dark Elves and Dragons).
  • Added Cadence, a short sword (11 damage, level 120) with +30/+60/+90 Hit Ratio on the 2nd/3rd/4th combo hit, +10% Crush Chance and +20% Crush Damage, whose criticals cost 2 Criticals (rare drop from Centaurs, Claw Turtles, Mountain Giants and Stalkers).
  • Added Stormdash, a two-handed axe (19 damage) with +5% Crush Chance and +20% Crush Damage, whose dash can be a critical using 1 Critical (rare drop from Minotaurs).
  • Added the Titanic stat: +3 base damage, but slower and heavier. It's one attack speed step slower, needs +13 Strength for full swing and has +25% weight.
    • Added Titanic Elf Bow (10 damage, level 120) (rare drop from Centaurs).
    • Added Titanic Windslasher (rare drop from Giant Lizards).
    • Added Titanic Stormdash, with Titanic instead of Crush Chance (rare drop from Helclaws and Wyverns).
  • The Sorceress also drops every new item above, as rare drops.
  1. Ring of Efreet (fire; from Dragons), Ring of Air Elemental (lightning; Giant Lizards), Ring of Ice Elemental (ice; Claw Turtles) and Ring of Earth Elemental (earth; Centaurs).
  2. Target's Magic Absorption x (1 - 0.15 - 0.30 x missing HP fraction), after other Magic Absorption penetration.
  3. Defense Ratio, Physical Absorption and level: 2, 5, 30 (from Trolls and Cyclops); Superior 12, 24, 80 (Ettins); Exceptional 20, 30, 120 (Minotaurs).

Item changes

  • Raised Crit Increase Chance (CIC) by 1 on items that have it and replaced its 20% cap with diminishing returns. Chance = total CIC / (100 + total CIC). For example, the chance with 20 CIC goes 20% -> 16.7%, and with 48 CIC 20% -> 32.4%.
  • Stopped self-damage, such as from Blood weapons, from triggering CIC.
  • Changed the HP Slate's regen (every 7.5 -> 10 seconds, +80 -> +100 HP) and Max HP multiplier (x3 -> x2).
  • Reduced War Hammer damage by 1 (e.g. War Hammer 14 -> 13).
  • Changed the Town Change price to depend on Rebirth level (49 -> 14 to 94 coins). The price is 14 + 4 x your last completed Rebirth level.
  • Added +30% EXP to Ring of Orc Power and Ring of Apprentice, which now wear out and break. They lose 1 endurance per monster kill. Their max endurance is raised (300 -> 400). They can't be repaired.
  • Removed Ring of Orc Power and Ring of Apprentice from the Shopkeeper; some monsters still drop them.23
  • Renamed Ancient Stone Piece (LU), (RU), (LD) and (RD) to A, B, C and D.
  • Reworked the Ancient Tablet window to show each outcome's chance before you combine.24
  • Increased repair prices by 25%.
  • Stopped Exceptional Giant Swords, Battle Axes and Barbarian Hammers going to your Item Drops unless they have Epic stats.
  • Raised the level below which the Lesser Stat Change Ticket works (100 -> 120).
  1. Slimes, Giant Ants, Snakes, Orcs, Scorpions, Skeletons, Zombies and Stone Golems.
  2. Success 40% (HP Slate 6%, Berserk Slate 16%, Mana Slate 8%, Experience Slate 10%), failure 60%.

Icons and descriptions

  • Added new icons for most tickets, dyes, tokens and some scrolls.
  • Clarified the Emerald Ring, Ruby Ring, Sharp weapon and Ancient weapon descriptions.25
  • Several minor fixes and improvements.
  1. Emerald Ring and Ruby Ring state that their Magic Absorption is multiplicative with other sources and ignores the cap. Sharp and Ancient weapons show Base Damage +1 and +2.

PvM

Monsters

  • Rebalanced nearly every regular monster, mostly harder and more so at higher tiers. Almost all have more Max HP and damage. Most also regenerate faster, about half have more Hit Ratio, and many spell casters cast stronger, more accurate spells.
  • Made high-tier monsters much tougher. They have more Max HP and damage, and most also have more Physical and Magic Absorption and Hit Ratio.26
  • Increased EXP from most monsters, especially high-level ones (e.g. Wyvern 1.2M -> 1.75M).27
  • Raised some mob tiers. Centaur goes 8 -> 9, Minotaur 8 -> 10, Nizie 9 -> 10, Helclaw and Tiger Worm 10 -> 11, Halloween Ghost 7 -> 11, Wyvern and Fire Wyvern 11 -> 12, Sorceress and Elementalist 11 -> 13, Claw Turtle 6 -> 9 and Abaddon 11 -> 13.28
  • Reworked Claw Turtles into much stronger Tier 9 monsters. They have much more Max HP, damage, Hit Ratio, attack range and absorption.
  • Added Elite versions of 20 more monsters.29
  • Strengthened the existing Elites.30
  • Fixed many high-tier monsters' Magic Resistance being only 1, which let spells almost always hit them.31
  • Added Anti-Poison monsters (Poison talent bonus damage halved) to many hunting-ground pits.32
  • Changed the EXP bonuses of special monsters. Wild and Berserked bonuses no longer stack multiplicatively with special abilities. For example, a berserked Destruction of Magic Protection monster goes 6x -> 2.5x base EXP.
    • Changed the Wild bonus (+25% of total EXP -> +33% of base EXP).
    • Changed the Berserked bonus (+100% of total EXP -> +75% of base EXP).
    • Reduced the Clairvoyant bonus (+75% -> +50% EXP).
    • Reduced the Destruction of Magic Protection bonus (+200% -> +75% EXP).
    • Reduced the Critical Poisonous and Critical Explosive bonuses (+100% -> +75% EXP), matching new Anti-Poison monsters.
    • Reduced the Explosive bonus (+60% -> +50% EXP).
  • Gave many monsters new spells33 and took some away.34
  • Made monsters cast at targets protected by Absolute Magic Protection instead of switching to melee. This includes all Elites and Champions. Monsters that can also dash now try their spells first.
  • Made all monsters attack instead of casting Paralyze on targets already paralyzed.
  • Changed Giant Lizards to Lightning element and removed Master Mage Orcs' Fire element.
  • Added damage return to Cannibal Plants, Giant Trees, Stalkers, Frosts, Giant Crayfish and Claw Turtles.
  • Made wandering monsters roam around their area instead of crossing the whole map. Middleland keeps the old roaming. Monsters no longer pile up in map centers, and outer areas stay populated.
  • Made Cats, Unicorns and neutral guards always fight back right away when hit, and Rabbits always run away.
  • Added a short fade-in when monsters spawn.
  • Shortened the Anti-Physical Damage and Anti-Magic Damage monster tags to Anti-Physical and Anti-Magic.
  1. E.g. Master Mage Orc, Nizie, Centaur, Minotaur, Dragon, Giant Lizard, Helclaw, Tiger Worm, Wyvern and Fire Wyvern. Master Mage Orcs, Dragons and Giant Lizards also attack from farther away.
  2. Also Claw Turtle 30,375 -> 225,000, Master Mage Orc 86,400 -> 217,000, Nizie 118,800 -> 245,125, Helclaw 405,000 -> 700,250.
  3. Tier 8 and higher mobs regenerate HP more often, which Claw Turtles and Halloween Ghosts now do, and only Tier 7 and lower mobs and Middleland's Halloween Ghosts spawn Wild.
  4. Ice Golem, Cannibal Plant, Beholder, Giant Crayfish, Tentocle, Direboar, Mountain Giant, Liche, Frost, Ettin, Master Mage Orc, Demon, Gargoyle, Claw Turtle, Centaur, Dragon, Giant Lizard, Minotaur, Nizie and Helclaw.
  5. Elite Helhound, Frog, Rudolph, Troll, Cyclops, Werewolf and Ogre have more Max HP, damage, Hit Ratio, absorption and Magic Resistance. Elite Stone Golem and Rudolph gained Tremor and Elite Cyclops Mass Fire Strike; the Elementalist's spells hit harder and include Hellfire.
  6. Nizie, Unicorn, Demon, Dragon, Giant Lizard, Centaur, Minotaur, Gargoyle, Helclaw, Tiger Worm, Wyvern, Fire Wyvern, Abaddon, Elementalist, and the Crusade God's Hand Knights, Temple Knights and Battle Golems.
  7. Promiseland, Dungeon L2-L4, Druncnian City, Icebound, Infernia A and B, Maze, Middleland, Tower of Hell 3 and 4.
  8. Tremor: Minotaurs, Direboars, occasionally Demons. Meteor Strike: Dragons. Bloody Shock Wave: Gargoyles. Mass Ice Strike: Claw Turtles. Mass Magic Missile: Tiger Worms. Fury of Thor: Wyverns, Giant Lizards, Tiger Worms. Earth Shock Wave: Centaurs. Hellfire: Helclaws, Fire Wyverns, Master Mage Orcs, rarely Dragons. Blizzard: Nizies, Claw Turtles. Lightning Strike: Liches. Mass Fire Strike: occasionally Cyclops.
  9. Tiger Worms no longer cast Lightning Strike, Wyverns Mass Chill Wind, Dragons Mass Fire Strike, and Giant Lizards and Centaurs Energy Strike.

PvM Maps

  • Added Tower of Hell 4, a large night-time map entered from Tower of Hell 3. It has 40 monster pits, 31 of them with Elite waves.3536
  • Made Elite waves clear only pit monsters at full HP, so monsters you are fighting stay.
  • Increased how long Elite waves stay (60 -> 90 seconds).
  • Reworked monster pits and random spawns on many maps, with Elite waves in many more pits. Many pits on maps with a Helclaw, Tiger Worm or Wyvern pit, e.g. most Icebound pits, could never spawn berserk monsters and now get their map's berserk chance.37
    • Farm Dungeon: Replaced two Snake pits with smaller Zombie pits and added two Skeleton pits.
    • Promiseland: Added 10 pits and enlarged its Orc, Helhound and Frog pits.38
    • Silent Wood: Added Cannibal Plants and more Werewolves, Mountain Giants and Ettins, some berserk, to random spawns.
    • Dungeon L2: Replaced 8 pits with Zombie, Skeleton, Ogre and Helhound pits.39
    • Dungeon L3: Added 9 pits.40
    • Dungeon L4: Added Master Mage Orcs.41
    • Icebound: Expanded to nearly twice as many pits, with Elite waves in most.42
    • Druncnian City: Reworked pits and made random spawns always berserk.43
    • Middleland:
      • Added Ettin, Skeleton and Mountain Giant pits.
      • Doubled its Helclaw pit (2 -> 4).
      • Ettins, Mountain Giants and Helclaws berserk more often.
    • Tower of Hell 1:
      • Added a Silver Treasure Chest guarded by a Demon.
      • Berserk random monsters there no longer always spawn with Anti-Physical or Anti-Magic.
    • Tower of Hell 2:
      • Added Master Mage Orcs to random spawns, with fewer Liches.
      • Demons and Gargoyles can be berserk.
      • Liches no longer always spawn with Anti-Physical or Anti-Magic.
    • Tower of Hell 3:
      • Increased the number of pits, with Elite waves in most pits.
      • Added Master Mage Orc, Tentocle, Dragon and always-Elite Beholder pits.
      • Added Master Mage Orcs to random spawns.
    • Maze:
      • Added Master Mage Orc, Demon and Dragon pits.
      • Shrank the Centaur and Minotaur pits (40 -> 30).
    • Infernia A and B: Added Master Mage Orc and Giant Lizard pits and always-Elite Liches.44
    • Procella: Shrank Giant Lizard and Minotaur pits (140 -> 100).
  1. Pits are mostly Skeletons, Demons, Liches, Ogres, Tentocles and Dark Elves. Treasure Chests are guarded by Demons and Gargoyles, a Fire Wyvern with Minotaurs, an Elite Dragon or an Elite Centaur.
  2. Random spawns include Zombies, Frogs, Skeletons, Dark Elves, Liches, Cyclops, Tentocles, Ogres, Helhounds, Demons, Gargoyles, Master Mage Orcs, Beholders, Centaurs, Giant Lizards, Minotaurs and Dragons.
  3. Orcs in Promiseland, Rocky Highland and Eternal Field random spawns can now be berserk like the other monsters there.
  4. New: Giant Scorpions, Skeletons, Cyclops, Cannibal Plants, Rudolphs, Ogres and Unicorns. One Giant Scorpion pit became Cannibal Plants and one Rudolph pit Trolls.
  5. The replaced pits were mostly Orcs, Clay and Stone Golems, Zombies and Cyclops.
  6. Cyclops, Beholders, Liches, Demons, Ogres, Ettins and Master Mage Orcs; random spawns add Giant Scorpions and Frogs. One Treasure Chest moved, and another is guarded by 2 Ettins instead of 6 Skeletons.

  1. Guard Towers, Mana Collectors and Detectors leave rubble; Mana Stones play their destruction animation instead of standing intact.

Heldenian

  • Made the Heldenian Battlefield damage bonus near your side's flags the same for weapons and spells. Spells get a smaller bonus than before. Weapon attacks now also get it against towers and monsters.
  • Fixed Heldenian Battlefield Ancient Giant Cannons never attacking and Crossbow Turrets locking onto summons. Cannons now cast Mass Fire Strike. Turrets no longer lock onto enemy summons and stop shooting.

Capture the Relic

  • Increased how often the relic carrier's position updates on the Astoria map (every 5 -> 2 steps).
  • Stopped players on the side with more total levels being harder to stun in Astoria events. The outnumbered side's damage bonus is unchanged.

  • Reworked large parts of Dungeon L3's layout.
  • Updated the terrain of Middleland, Icebound, Tower of Hell 3 and other maps.54

  1. Promiseland, Aresden Dungeon, Elvine Dungeon, Dungeon L2, Dungeon L3, Icebound, Maze and Tower of Hell 1, 2 and 3.
  2. Unchanged: towns and town buildings, jails, revival zones, Middleland, Druncnian City, Farm Dungeon, Middleland Mine, Bleeding Island and Beginner Zone.
  3. Tiles that teleport when walked into from the open side: town and farm Warehouse doors 2 -> 8, Infernia A/B gates 1 -> 5, Command Hall exits 8 -> 9, church exits 4 -> 6. Many dungeon and Tower of Hell stairs went from 3 to 2 tiles, and other doors and stairs moved by a tile.

Interface & Quality of Life

New windows and tools

  • Added spell tooltips to the Magic window, Arcane Studies (the spell shop) and spell manuals. They show each spell's description, damage and effects. Turn them off there with Show tooltips in the Magic window's options.
  • Merged Level Set, Character Simulator and Talents into one tabbed window. Compare HP/MP/SP, weight and combat values before and after. Shift makes -/+ step x10 and Ctrl x5. Unapplied points are kept after closing.
  • Added Set as level-up target to the Planner. The Planner opens on your current build. Level Up then marks the target, and Fill toward target spends your points toward it.
  • Replaced the feedback window with a feedback board (Feedback button in the Character window, F5). Bug reports are visible only to you and staff. Ideas, balance posts and votes need a level 30+ or reborn character on the account. Old posts and votes are archived and not shown.56
  • Added Olympia Coin rewards for helpful feedback, sent by mail. Staff can give them to the author's character for bug reports, ideas and balance suggestions.
  • Added Weekly, Monthly and All Time Enemy Kill leaderboards for players and guilds (located in F5). Player boards include EKs from before the update. Guild EKs count from this patch, for the guild the killer was in at the time of the kill.57
  • Added Experience leaderboards: XP gained Weekly and Monthly, and an All Time rebirth ranking. They are in the Experience tab of the Leaderboards window. XP gained counts from this patch.58
  • Added regen timers to the Character window (F5). Clicking "Regens" restarts them from now, and resting at a shop no longer resets them. HP regenerates every 15 seconds, or 10 with an HP Slate, which the timers ignore. MP regenerates every 20 seconds and SP every 12.
  • Changed the Character window's Exp to count only your current level, and renamed Next Exp to TNL. TNL is the EXP still needed. Hover either for totals. The bottom bar's Ctrl/hover text now says TNL instead of Required Exp.
  1. Ideas, Balance and Bugs tabs plus Mine for your own posts, with New/Top sorting, search, voting on ideas and balance suggestions, and the Known Issues list on Bugs. Up to 3 posts per account per 24 hours, one vote per account per post. Subjects up to 60 and texts up to 1,000 characters; posts can be withdrawn but not edited. Staff may carry selected old posts and votes over.
  2. Players: top 100 Weekly (Monday to Sunday) and Monthly (calendar month), by server date, and top 1,000 All Time from your total EKs. Guilds (Guild EKs tab): top 100 for each period.
  3. Weekly and Monthly rank the top 100 by XP gained in the period from every source, bonuses and rested XP included, counting XP gained while reborn at its value before the rebirth XP penalty; XP lost on death doesn't count. All Time ranks the top 1,000 by Rebirth Odysseys completed, then rebirth and level (a rebirth in progress or paused counts at its own), then total Majestics.

Inventory and Warehouse

  • Added an inventory search.
  • Allowed withdrawing part of a stack from the Warehouse and the Guild Warehouse.
  • Made Ctrl-withdrawing from the Warehouse put items back in their old bag slot. This is the slot they had when deposited. Items deposited before the update go to the usual place.
  • Increased the range for giving and trading items to other players (4 -> 5 tiles).
  • Made dropping part of a stack on the ground ask the amount at your cursor. The drop confirmation now turns red for rare and epic items.
  • Made inventory items light up on hover, and darkened items held by an open window. Held items also get a yellow outline.
  • Colored the count on grouped identical items light green (was grey).
  • Made moving all identical items in your bag at once need Shift held when you pick the item up. It also needs an actual drag. Shift-clicking or pressing Shift only when dropping no longer gathers them.
  • Made equipping an item you can't use give the reason at once. It names reasons such as stats, level or gender. This also fixes some cases of equipment getting out of sync.
  • Moved the Small bag items option from Game Options to the inventory's options (gear) menu.
  • Added Cash Shop options to withdraw 25, 50 and 500 Olympia Coins at once.

Minimap

  • Made double-click walk you all the way to the destination around obstacles.
  • Redesigned pings, and replaced the guild target's permanent skull with lock-on brackets that vanish after 20 seconds.
  • Added a cooldown to map pings and target pings (10 seconds each).
  • Made monster pits and object icons on the minimap hide while the cursor is near their spot, so you can see the map underneath.
  • Replaced your minimap marker with an arrow showing which way you face.
  • Added mouse wheel zoom on the minimap, with up to two in-between zoom levels on larger maps. Num +/- also zooms. Your zoom level is remembered.
  • Added a Hold for Other View key (Options > Keybindings, unbound by default) that shows the other minimap view while held, outlining the zoomed area on the whole map.
  • Added a Minimap size option (Options > Interface, 75% to 200%, OpenGL renderer).
  • Added arrows on the zoomed minimap's edge pointing to party members, the relic, event monsters and minimap objects outside the view; hover one for its name and distance.
  • Updated the minimap images to match the current map layouts.

Movement and cursor

  • Added outlines on the ground showing where safe zones are. Toggle them in Options > Graphics > Show safezones.
  • Added a Shift to Walk option (Options > Controls, off by default). Holding Shift in running mode makes you walk, and in walking mode makes you run.
  • Made the cursor show as disabled over tiles you can't walk on (Hardware cursor only).
  • Added a Cursor size option for the Hardware cursor (50% to 200%) in Options > Controls.
  • Made double-click timing follow your Windows setting (fixed 300 ms -> Windows setting). Windows' default is 500 ms. If quick separate clicks count as double-clicks, move Double-click speed toward Fast in Windows' mouse settings.
  • Made a left mouse button held through a map change do nothing until released.

Game Menu and Options

  • Split Game Options (F12) into a Game Menu and an Options window with a page per topic5960, renamed several options6162 and switched Low FPS mode off once for everyone. Other saved settings carry over. The Toggle AFK mode button was removed, but /afk still works.
  • Added a search to Options that finds settings and keybindings on every page. It also searches tooltips. English keywords such as "volume" work in every language. Ctrl+F starts a search.
  • Added Reset page to Options. It keeps Language and Window size.
  • Added window color themes, defaulting to new Parchment. Choose a theme in Options > Interface.
  • Moved Vertical sync, Gore and Unlock FPS from the launcher into in-game Options. Launcher choices aren't carried over. Vertical sync starts off, and the rest start on.

  • Replaced the Show all damage option with Damage numbers: All hits, Latest hit, Total or Total (hits).64
  • Added text smoothing options in Options > Interface. With OpenGL, toggle Smooth text. With DirectDraw, Text rendering offers Legacy or DirectWrite, each with or without smoothing. DirectWrite is the default.
  • Made Window transparency (F11 or Ctrl+W) persist across restarts and apply to the new-style black windows too.
  • Added Keep running when unfocused (/runinbackground) to Options and made it persist across restarts. It's in Options > General and works in windowed mode only. It keeps sound and the full frame rate in the background.
  • Added Grid opacity.
  1. Pages: General, Audio, Display, Graphics, Interface, HUD, Chat & Social, Controls and Keybindings (was the Main, Gameplay, Graphics and Input tabs). Changes apply at once.
  2. The Game Menu has Options, Upcoming Events, News, Cash shop, Support Ticket, Discord Server, Screenshots Folder and Log out, above the local and server time, Avg Ping and raid day.
  3. Whispering -> Whispers, Mute List -> Blocked Players, Automatic dash -> Auto dash on players, Background shaking effect -> Camera shake, Old pathing system -> Legacy Pathing, Old camera -> Legacy camera, Low fps mod -> Low FPS mode, Dialog transparency -> Window transparency.
  4. Start chat exclusively with enter -> Start chat with Enter, Pressing shift to pickup items -> Shift to pick up, Windows key enabled -> Windows key, Take screenshot on EK -> Screenshot on EK, Queue next click action -> Queue next click, Frozen effect (above heads) -> Frozen effect (head), Achiev. notifications -> Achievement notifications, Show Discord Character -> Show character on Discord, Show Discord Nation -> Show nation on Discord.
  5. Master scales music, sound effects and rain; Rain sounds also follows the Sound effects level and mute. Changes also apply to sounds already playing, and muting Master or Sound effects stops playing sound effects.
  6. Total adds up hits landing within 0.15 seconds, and each hit in a combined number keeps its own color. Total (hits) also shows how many hits it added up, e.g. -122 (5).

Windows

  • Rebuilt most remaining old windows in the new style, and moved windows now keep their place after relogging. With Save UI layout on, positions also survive restarting the client.65
  • Revamped the Mailbox with Mark as unread, Mark all as read and Take all items. Leaving To empty sends the mail to yourself. A refused send tells you why and keeps your draft instead of staying stuck on "Sending...".66
  • Redesigned shops to a tabbed Shop window with sell prices, and added a Repair window at blacksmiths. The Sell tab shows a running total.
  • Redesigned the trade window with item icons, acceptance seals and "New" marks. Any change to an offer removes both seals. "New" marks items your partner adds after you accepted.
  • Gave guild summon, resurrection and reputation-trade requests a prompt each instead of replacing one another. The resurrection prompt names the caster, and the summon prompt shows the map and cost.
  • Hid City Hall teleport destinations outside your level range. Promiseland is hidden below level 40 or above 119. Middleland is hidden below level 110, or 80 during Crusade.
  • Added a confirmation before learning a spell from a manual.
  • Made the City Hall Rebirth window name the Rebirth level you'd start, enter or return to, explain each run and show unmet requirements in red.

  • Added icons next to Gold, Olympia Coin and other currency amounts and prices.67
  • Made links to the Helbreath Olympia website in News posts clickable.

  3. Also stones, Majestic Points, Enemy Kills, Contribution, Event Tokens and summon points, in shops, repairs, mail, the Guild Treasury, Item Upgrade, the Character window, rebirth, City Hall, Crusade summons and quest rewards.

Graphics and sound

  • Raised FPS greatly when a lot of text is on screen, with either renderer.
  • Sped up sprite loading, so characters coming into view appear with all their equipment at once.
  • Raised the limit of visual effects shown at once (450 -> 1000).
  • Removed the 640x480 resolution, so the game picture is always 800x600.
  • Removed the 16-bit color client; players who used it now use the 32-bit one.
  • Improved several visual effects, such as Tremor and fires on the ground.68
  • Improved the camera shake and turned it back on for everyone. Toggle it in Options > Graphics > Camera shake.
  • Improved how dying monsters' corpses fade out, and Elite corpses now keep their Elite coloring.
  • Changed screenshots to save as PNG instead of BMP (about half the file size).
  • Made a sound piling up at one moment play once instead of a loud burst. A single level-up's sparkle is quieter too.69
  • Lowered the loudest monster sounds (by up to 6 dB).70
  • Made combat and ambient sounds vary slightly in pitch each time, so repeats sound less mechanical.
  • Updated the game's icon.
  1. Tremor; Ice Golems (a steady icy aura instead of a flicker); Mana Stones, Grand Magic Generators and Energy Shield Generators (a pulsing glare); Ice Storm and ground fires (Fire Field, burning ground, Crusade meteor fires) glow steadily instead of flickering.
  2. Sound effects (not music or rain) are grouped in 0.04 s windows, then each sound plays once, from the nearest. A lone effect starts about 0.04 s later. Different spells sharing a sound, such as heals, Haste, Defense Shield, Poison and Berserk, merge too.
  3. Abaddon, the Heavy Battle Tank, Crossbow Turret and Ancient Giant Cannon, and dying Trolls.

Commands

  • Added command suggestions while you type a / command in chat. They also suggest options and player names. Press Tab to complete.
  • Added an item list: /items browses every item by category, with details on hover. Rare items with stats may not display correctly.
  • Added /xpm and /xps to report your EXP rate, replacing the automatic 10-second EXP messages. The rested bonus is included. By default, /xpm reports every 15 minutes and /xps every 10 seconds. Change this with /xpm <minutes> or /xps <seconds>. Setting 0 turns them off.
  • Added /network to show your ping, packets and bytes per second on screen. Typing /net 1 toggles whether network overhead is counted.
  • Added /dps as a shortcut for /showdps.
  • Made /changes (or /verhist) open the patch notes on the website instead of the old version history page.

Social & Chat

Chat and languages

  • Added translations for Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Swedish and French. Choose a language in Options > General > Language. Item and spell names stay in English, and stat names also show the English trading code, e.g. "Precisión (HR) +3".
  • Added Unicode text, so accented letters, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and other scripts show correctly for everyone. This covers chat, mail, the guild notice, friend notes and guild names of up to 20 characters in any script. Turning off "Options > Interface > Show Unicode text" may result in higher FPS.
  • Added item links in chat (Shift + double-click an item in your inventory). Each message can hold one link. Anyone can hover it in the chat log for the item's details. Drop announcements link the dropped item too.
  • Added a movable text cursor in chat and every text box: arrow keys, Home, End, Delete, and clicking where you want to type.71
  • Added a shared message allowance to Global, Town and party chat (10 messages, 1 back every 10 seconds). It applies to party chat only in parties of 10 or more. Every character on the same computer shares it. Trade chat keeps its own: 4 messages, 1 back every 10 minutes.
  • Made the chat log (F9) keep its messages when you relog, and added a Clear button. Switching characters clears whispers, and Town and Guild messages are cleared when your town or guild changes. You can also use /clearchat.
  • Raised the level needed for Trade and Town chat (Trade 1 -> 16, Town 6 -> 16). Dead characters can no longer use Trade chat.
  • Improved detection of trade messages typed in other channels, which are moved to Trade chat. Bypassing it can get you muted.
  • Added a spam filter that blocks chat messages that are too similar to your previous one.
  • Allowed whispering yourself, e.g. for notes.
  • Made chat log and whisper lines wrap between words instead of cutting words in half.
  • Fixed full-width chat prefixes from Japanese keyboards (!, @, ~, /...) not working like the normal ones.
  • Fixed the /r command (reply to your last received whisper) only working when followed by a space.
  • Fixed Up and Down erasing what you were typing in chat, mail and other text boxes to recall a whisper target. Up and Down still go through the players you whispered when you aren't typing, on an empty chat line.
  1. Hold Ctrl to move or delete (with Backspace or Delete) a whole word.

Friends and blocking

  • Added a friends list and a block list, saved on the server (Friends window: /friends or Ctrl+Alt+F). They hold up to 100 friends and 100 blocked players. Set login notices under Options > Chat & Social > Friend Notifications.
  • Send friend requests, see when friends come online, and add nicknames, notes and location sharing; friends from the other town can't see your location.
  • Blocking hides a player's chat in every channel, including guild chat, and stops their whispers, friend requests, and party and trade invites.
  • Commands: /friend (/addfriend), /unfriend (/removefriend), /block and /unblock.
  • Replaced the old local /mute list with the block list, without carrying muted players over. Block them again with /block. The /mute and /unmute commands now block and unblock.

Guilds

  • Redesigned the Guild window with Members, Board and Treasury tabs.72
  • Added a Guild Board to the Guild window where the Guildmaster can post a guild notice (50,000 Gold per post).
  • Added staff-approved guild town transfers that move a guild to the other town.
  • Changed Guild Treasury donation lists to show only current members' donations.
  • Changed guild kicks so officers can only kick lower ranks. Captains can no longer kick other Captains. Online members can't be kicked during Crusade.
  • Replaced the Guild Secession Ticket with a free Leave your guild option at the Guildhall Officer, except during Crusade or while your guild changes town.
  • Gave guild actions clear prompts that explain unavailable options.73
  • Made guild summon requests expire after 5 minutes or when you leave the guild. Also fixed the summon cooldown message never appearing.
  1. Members can be sorted by name, level (with Rebirths), rank and map and show their Guild Summons cooldown. Officers see offline members with when they were last seen and can summon, set ranks and kick from the window. The Treasury shows balances, upgrade costs, contributors and history.
  2. Guild hall actions (create, disband or leave a guild, buy admission tickets), join requests, rank changes, donations and guild renames.

Accounts and names

  • Blocked hard-to-read character names, and made existing characters with one pick a new name for free. Examples include IlIlIl and l1l1l1. Existing characters rename before entering the game. Character creation and the Name Change Ticket now explain why a name is refused.
  • Limited each account to one character in the game at a time.
  • Increased the maximum e-mail length on account creation (30 -> 49 characters).

  2. Aresien Garden, Eldiniel Garden, the Beginner Zone, Rocky Highland, both Death Valleys and Middleland.
  3. Only the first Abaddon kill counts. An Apocalypse that ends without Abaddon dying records no winner instead of keeping the previous one, and if a monster or an unowned summon finishes him, no town wins.
  4. The pads show a teleport cursor and appear on the minimap during the event, and the relic can no longer be dropped onto them.
  5. The final result named your own town instead of the winner, the "Energy Sphere was dropped" message lacked the map and position, a tie congratulated Travellers, and the goal message had a typo.

  7. Divine Touch costs 13% max MP (said 15%); Merien's damage penalty applies only against players; Poison and Tank shorten Paralyze only when hit by a physical attack.
  8. Magic now says that from 65% it shortens cast time, up to 15% at 100%, and shows your current reduction. Dashing no longer says it needs a talent and is no longer listed for Archery. Critical multipliers read e.g. "x1.15" instead of "+115%", and the critical Hit Ratio below 100% skill now matches the game.
  9. Poison Res. chances include your gear and talents. Shield now says that on a block your armor wears 60% less and the shield takes 80% of the wear.
  10. Fixed: critical and magic Hit Ratio, elemental absorption and poison resistance from all equipment, and Tank bonuses. Added: Magic Absorption against monster spells and, with the Ice talent, Ice spell Hit Ratio.
  11. Double-clicking the title bar to maximize walked your character, Alt+Tabbing with a mouse button held kept you walking or attacking, Ctrl held while returning to the game was ignored, and holding the mouse after clicking an NPC walked you away from its dialog.
  12. /perf, /multithreading, /set, /reloadui, /uidev, /ui, /enabletogglescreen, /actiontime, /emulatecrash and /debugview.
  13. Fire Ball, Fire Strike, Energy Bolt, Magic Missile, Lightning Arrow, Hellfire, Fury of Thor, Bloody Shock Wave and Crusade explosions.
  14. Giving coins to Edric shows a "You gave ..." message, repair costs show thousands separators, and the connection screen timers read "N Sec".
