Drops and parties

Drop generation, item assignment and party experience sharing.

Drops and parties

The killer's stats and bonuses influence drop generation, but the last hitter is not necessarily the recipient. Reputation, Luck, monster specialty and eligible guild/event bonuses affect different parts of generation. Contribution is not directly consulted in the normal drop-factor and first-drop path.

For eligible drop-bag items, damage history selects a player or party. A winning eligible party then selects among its active nearby members, excluding dead, inactive, off-map and out-of-range players. If none qualify, a killer fallback may apply; other paths leave the item on the ground. The greatest individual damage does not always win. Direct-player and fallback paths are distinct from active-party selection.

Party experience

Eligible party members must be alive, active, on the same map and within the server's party range. The party XP multiplier grows with eligible membership and stops at 16 members; additional members still divide the pool. With only 1 eligible member, that member receives the pool without division. Personal XP modifiers and rebirth penalties apply afterward, so final awards can differ.

Calculation details

Let N be eligible members at the XP source and E the XP entering the party routine. First replace E by max(E,N). For multiple eligible members, each pre-personal-bonus share is

trunc(0.5+float32(E)min(1+0.2(N−1),4)float32(N)).

The casts convert E and N to single precision before calculation at the pool multiplier's higher precision. Truncate after the complete expression. Omitting the initial conversion can change large-XP results. The sole eligible member receives E without floating-point conversion. Personal modifiers and rebirth truncation follow.

This source-model calculation does not certify every floating-point boundary in the optimized compiled server.
