As I've said in the other topic I've been working a lot on recoding and cleaning a lot of the codebase for Helbreath Olympia. This will inevitably result in some bugs being created but in the end will make it much easier to code features and improvements in the future. There is still a lot of work to be done but what is also most important at the moment is that this be continually tested so that any bugs may be detected early, making it easier to fix them, rather than detecting them at launch where they will be damaging the server and also making it harder to fix them.
Additionally, we've decided to stick with 800x600 for now as it seems to be the best choice (some computers may not support this in which case you'll be playing on 640x480, but this is very rare).
I will also add Windows 8 support very soon.

Below is the list of things that have been recoded, added, or fixed, and thus needs testing. Don't forget to post bugs you find in Feedbacks under the F5 menu or post them here!

Changes:
Destroy the Shield event has been replaced by Heldenian in the event scheduler. Heldenian will now automatically start in place of DTS
Fixed Fish not spawning
Added town fish back in
Fixed guild summon player feature having coords inversed

Normal features that need testing due to recoding:
Anything related to taking and dealing damage, both physical and magical, including 'flying'
Item endurance updates (item endurance should now always be in sync. if you find a case where it doesn't sync, let us know).
All types of damage now trigger mana convertion and critical increase chance
Pretend Corpse (should have less weird bugs with this)
Apocalypse


Minor changes:
    Added medium trees for more diversity
    Added shadows back to trees (more transparent than before)
    Max armor stats reduced 77 -> 70
    Fixed special armors such as Merien Plate not being counted in the client's DR/PA calculations (server unaffected)
    Fixed item endurance reductions notifications not being sent to client if they were performed when the client dies
    Fixed misaligned rooftops and bridges in IB


January 9th:
    Fixed shop not showing all items
    Fixed drops not calculating properly
    Fixed an error in damage calculations causing damage to be too low
    Fixed not being able to recall in Icebound
    Fixed ESW linear damage applying when the target didn't resist, rather than when it didn't
    Fixed PFA not working against Dark Elf and AGT
    Fixed being killed by an NPC not dropping any items
    Fixed guards being summoning when hitting a friendly player in town (should now only summon when killing)
    Fixed casts being interrupted by poison damage and Poison Cloud/Fire Wall/Ice Storm

January 12th:
New stuff:
    AoE DoT spells like Cloud Kill and Fire Wall will now count as an EK (see the two related changes below)
    Damages less than 15 will now not count as PK. This means all AoE DoT spells won't count as PKs, since the individual hits don't reach 15 (this is mainly to prevent players deliberately suiciding to ally spells)
    Casting AoE DoT spells on top of the same spell type will now have their caster replaced (it will not reset its duration). This is purely for the purpose of avoiding players to cast these spells in a safezone and going into them in order to avoid other players getting a kill with them
    AoE DoT damage will now show up as non-stunning hits, rather than not at all
    Reduced damage reduction on Huge mobs and halved the AoE spell bonus (like Blizzard) on them (x2 now, x4 before, and erroneously x9 on last patch). This means AoE spells still hit about the same on Abaddon and Wyverns, but warriors will deal a little more than double the damage. Note that ESW now properly deals the most damage on Abaddon

Other fixes:
    Fixed client not moving close enough to Huge mobs (3x3) when melee attacking them horizontally, causing all attacks to miss (this bug has been present since the start of Olympia)
    Fixed second drops not dropping and having incorrect rate
    Fixed skills not upping properly
    Fixed EKs/PKs working on bisle and arenas
    Fixed Summon Creature only summoning lower mobs
    Fixed Paralyze being interrupted by physical attacks
    Fixed DR not being halved when attacking from behind
    Fixed Farming
    Fixed Heal/Great Heal working only on caster
    Fixed Soldier damage bonus in Crusade reducing damage instead of increasing it
    Fixed droprate bonuses not having any effect on Cyclops and Troll monster parts (old bug)
    Pickaxes and Hoes are now considered Fencing weapons for the purpose of damage calculations (Fixed Hoe having a -1 skill id causing errors)
    Fixed damage on killing NPCs always showing up as "Critical!"
    Fixed NPCs that can't be damaged showing up damage
    Fixed Bows not showing damage dice in inventory
    Fixed being invincible still shows you're being hit on client
    Improved smoke

14th January:
    Damages will now show up if player was to 'fly' but was blocked by terrain or other units
    Re-enabled parties (Fixed players withdrawing from party not deleting the player in the party)
    Fixed issues with Para on both players and NPCs
    Fixed cross damages in spells like Blizzard and ESW not reaching the entirety of the range when casting far away
    Fixed NPCs not following masters when 3+ tiles away
    Fixed AoE DoT spells occasionally not showing units die
    Fixed a client freezing bug on account creation


16th January:
    Add Windows 8 support
    Firewall/Firefield now correctly remove Paralyze
    Fixed NPCs hitting themselves with magic (specially apparent for Ice Golems)
    Fixed item repair cost being broken
    NPCs now have the same spell cast range as players
    Fixed ice monsters being able to be occasionally frozen
    Having the game running should no longer prevent other server's client to launch
    Fixed game version check not being performed when auto-relogging

Heldenian:
    Fixed towers and other units not aiming any enemies
    Fixed players being able to hit allied towers
    Fixed gates
    Fixed PFA not working against Elf
    Fixed disabling summons on every map when it hadn't started
    Fixed NPCs in Held hitting each other
    Fixed Heldenian and Soccer teleporting all players to town when they end
    Fixed giving huge amounts of XP as a reward

8th February:
    Fixing IGs damaging each other
    Fixed PretendCorpse not working
    Fixed pings being sent to everyone on the map
    Fixed Guild online list being bugged
    Nerfed Gold/Exp multiplier (Armor XP: 7 -> 4, Armor Gold: 10 -> 7, Weapon XP: 7 -> 6, Weapon Gold: 10 -> 8)
    Increased Pickaxe and Hoe price tenfold (affects repairs)
    Fixed Medusa paralyze lasting forever instead of 10 seconds
    Fixed disbanding guild crashing the HG
    Fixed second drops on Large mobs like Wyverns and Abaddon not dropping
    NPCs will no longer attack each other if they get hit by magic and they're of the same side
    Fixed physical attacks not working against towers in Heldenian
    Fixed Command Hall teleports to Siege being inverted for Attacker and Defender
    Fixed Heldenian flag cost being 2 instead of 10
    Feedbacks are now ordered descending by date added instead of karma

19th February:
    Made the camera and unit animations much more fluid. This is a huge change that came with revamping a large portion of the client. In short, you have to play to see what a big difference it makes in the game. This also means there's most likely quite a few bugs related to this so please report them on F5 -> Feedbacks.
    Slightly buffed Fury of Thor damage and reduced mana cost by 2
    Adjusted Hellfire mana cost and damage
    Critical and Poisoning weapons will now drop with higher % (limit is still the same)
    Fixed units being shown incorrectly in BI

21 February:
Changes:
    Added a toggle to use old camera with command /oldcamera or inside the Extended Menu (it's not exactly the same camera system, but should be very similar)
    Damages over 255 will now correctly show up as "Crit" rather than an incorrect amount
    Spells are now shown even if the caster isn't in view

Fixes:
    Fixed jitter ("shaking") on unit animations and chat above head
    Fixed animations starting a bit too far ahead in position (makes them look even more fluid)
    Fixed non-flying spell damages flying and flying spell damages not flying
    Fixed flying and dashing setting incorrect positions, causing 'ghost' players
    Fixed flying animation being way too fast
    Fixed not being able to give items to anyone, including NPCs
    Fixed audio not playing for players. We're still working on adding the sounds for monsters on the new system
    Fixed one type of female player not showing name
    Fixed Hero Set and Merien effects not showing
    Fixed corpses disappearing too soon
    Fixed quests not giving gold
    Fixed being able to open blacksmith by opening shop twice


24 February:
Changes:
    Added resolution selection to the launcher
    Adjusted new pathing to make it easier to move diagonally (toggle between new pathing and old pathing with /oldpathing). If you've felt the new pathing didn't work well for you, I suggest trying it again
    Flying damage done to a player that is Paralyzed will no longer stun/interrupt spells, and will also display to other players as blue damage
    Flying damage will no longer do a long stun when the tile to fly to is occupied
    Increased run speed by about 4% to match old running speed
    Sped up flying animation to better match the old animation speed (should stun less now)
    Slightly sped up getting hit animation to better match old client (old client was 490 ms, this one was 512, changed to 488)
    Added hardware cursor rendering to reduce mouse lag in fullscreen (enabled by default). Toggle with /hardwarecursor
    Added private messages dialog in F9
    Reduced Held Flags EK cost from 10 to 5
    'Clever' NPCs will now no longer cast spells on players that have AMP, rather than not cast on players that have PFM or AMP
    Improved Rain and Snow
    Increased Fencing critical damage from +5% to +25%
    Auto-attack mode (Ctrl+A) is now enabled by default
    Auto-attack mode and attack neutral (Ctrl+N) are now saved between sessions

Fixes:
    Fixed Heldenian causing players on the entire server to have their positions reset every 2 seconds
    Fixed status changes such as PFM/PFA/AMP reseting player positions
    Fixed flags not working in Battlefield
    Fixed traveler/civilian protection working only for one hit instead of 20 seconds
    Fixed new camera moving too quickly when you get stunned/flown
    Fixed old camera going far away when alt-tabbing away from the game
    Fixed right-hand side of the screen sometimes not drawing
    Fixed other players Fixed Kloness Axe being considered a Long Sword instead of an Axe
    Fixed max-length names not displaying properly on client
    Fixed Stamina Drain draining the caster
    Fixed int requirement from attempting to learn manual not showing the correct value
    Fixed sounds while attacking in peace mode
    Fixed for some damages not displaying correctly (e.g. on Posion cloud dmg)
    Fixed frog/cat movement
    Fixed "Remember user" for login
    Fixed crops disappearing when taking damage
    Fixed reputation notification being inversed
    Fixed and improved weapon and shield glow
    Fixed Cancellation working against friendly players protected by Sword of Heavens activation
    Corrected mana costs for Fury of Thor and Hellfire on client

1 March:
Warning: This update will require the updater to redownload many of the sprites, due to many sprite fixes (black characters, green colours, stray pixels)
Changes:
    Cursor will now change to a green spell icon when mousing over teleport tiles
    Reduced effectiveness of frozen
    Defense Shield and Great Defense Shield now correctly adds DR on the client's player stats

Fixes:
    Fixed a few bugs with bumps
    Fixed camera moving abruptly when bumping and improved the new camera a bit
    Fixed a few of cases of unit duplication
    Dead animations no longer finish early (fixes bumping into dead units)
    Fixed a few character sounds (NPC sounds still to be implemented)
    Cloudkill now correctly breaks Paralyze
    Fixed attacks hitting friendly players when in safe mode
    Fixed double-clicking in inventory sometimes picking the wrong item for warehouse/mailbox/market
    Fixed selection cursor when using dyes/etc...
    Fixed old mouse input method not showing cursor

Can you still poison town mates to make guards spawn? or was this removed from hbo?

Just crashed the server :twisted: lol

Well, as far as damages are concerned, I killed a bunch of scorpions in town and when they died, they displayed the small critical! font that comes up on pretend corpse rather than actual damage.

I then used energy bolt and it showed the appropriate damage, (19+7) but when I proceeded to kill the scorpion with my wand, the server crashed.

Fixed that crash. Also fixed the npc dying damage thing for the next restart.
